In a close game the North Dallas Fire Ants registered 4 runs in the 4th inning
and got by the Jefferson Park Penguins by the score of 7 to 5.
North Dallas scored 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they had 5 base
hits. The key at-bat was by Akinori Iwamura who deflated the spirits of the
home town crowd when he doubled plating two runs. The Jefferson Park bats
were silent in the bottom of the 9th.
Mark Buehrle(6-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Buehrle got relief help from Heath Bell who gained credit
for his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Aaron Cook(2-5). He surrendered 6
runs and 13 hits in 6 innings.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Adam Arnett said after the game. 'Buehrle did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
